Lightning Lane Multipass is here, and Animal Kingdom is one of the easiest parks to plan—if you do it right. No confusing tiers. Fewer must-dos. But don’t let that simplicity fool you: with the right approach, you can stack an amazing day of rides, shows, and unforgettable moments.
In this guide, I’ll walk you through how to think about Animal Kingdom using our “deck of cards” strategy—and how to decide whether Flight of Passage deserves your rope drop, your wallet, or your patience.
Before we jump into the cards, here’s what you need to know:
We use a deck of cards model to explain your ride picks:
“Flight of Passage” is arguably the best ride in all of Walt Disney World. A soaring, thrilling, immersive journey through the world of Pandora—complete with smells, wind, and breathtaking visuals.
But it’s not free.
Flight of Passage is a Lightning Lane Single Pass attraction, meaning you’ll need to pay extra to skip the line. So how should you handle it?
Buy the Single Pass
Book a return time and skip most of the queue. It’s fast and convenient—but note: you’ll miss one of the most immersive queues in Disney.
Rope Drop It
Get to the park well before it opens and head straight to Pandora.
Last Ride of the Night
Ride it right before park close. As long as you’re in line before closing—even by one minute—you’re allowed to ride. Wait times are often shorter then.
Once you decide how you’re handling Flight of Passage, your next steps fall into place.
This lets you knock out the highest-demand ride first, then follow with the other major attractions.
These may not be “face cards,” but they round out your day and are still Lightning Lane-eligible.
A relaxing but wild ride through live animal habitats. This is Disney storytelling on a jeep—with real giraffes, elephants, and lions. Best early in the day (when animals are active) or at sunset.
Short but wet. Great on hot days—you will get soaked. Return times often available later in the day.
Shows like:
…are included in Lightning Lane Multipass, but honestly, they’re usually not worth burning a selection unless the park is slammed.
Walk-ins are often available, especially midday. Save your cards for the rides.
Animal Kingdom is chill compared to the other Disney parks—but don’t let that trick you into showing up without a plan.
Use our deck of cards model to:
And if all this still feels like a lot—don’t worry.
