🎬 Hollywood Studios Lightning Lane Guide — As Easy As a Deck of Cards
Hollywood Studios is the most adrenaline-packed Disney park—and also one of the toughest to plan. With several major thrill rides and immersive lands, it’s easy to waste your day standing in line. But with Lightning Lane Multipass and our signature “deck of cards” strategy, you can stack your day like a pro.
✨ How Lightning Lane Works at Hollywood Studios
- You can pre-book 3 Lightning Lane Multipass rides starting 7 days in advance (Disney Resort guests) or 3 days if off-property.
- The park uses a tiered system:
🎴 Tier 1 (Pick ONE when pre-booking):
- Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway
- Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run
- Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster
- Slinky Dog Dash
🎴 Tier 2 (Pick your other 2 selections from here):
- Alien Swirling Saucers
- Star Tours
- Toy Story Mania
- Tower of Terror
- Muppet*Vision 3D (closing June 7, 2025)
Once you redeem your first Lightning Lane, tier restrictions disappear and you can book freely.
🚀 Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance — The Wild Card
Rise of the Resistance is not included in Lightning Lane Multipass. It’s a Lightning Lane Single Pass ride and must be purchased separately per guest.
You have 3 main options:
- Buy the Single Pass – Fast and reliable
- Rope Drop It – Risky, but free
- Ride at Night – Works if it’s operational
🎴 If You Are Rope Dropping Rise of the Resistance:
- Ace: Slinky Dog Dash (Pre-Booked — your #1 priority)
- King: Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster
- Queen: Tower of Terror (Pre-Booked — most in-demand Tier 2)
- Jack: Toy Story Mania
- 10: Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway
- 9: Smugglers Run
- 8: Alien Swirling Saucers
- Joker: Star Tours (Pre-Booked — book as close to park open as possible)
- 6: Muppet*Vision 3D (until June 7)
🎴 If You Are NOT Rope Dropping Rise:
You’re either skipping it or planning to ride it just before park close.
🕗 Rope Drop Plan:
- First: Tower of Terror
- Then: Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster
With Early Entry, you can knock both out before most guests walk through the gate.
Lightning Lane Deck:
- Ace: Slinky Dog Dash (Pre-Booked)
- King: Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster (Rope Drop)
- Queen: Tower of Terror (Rope Drop)

- 9: Smugglers Run

Fun 3D shooter with high re-ride value. Often easier to grab midday.
9️⃣ Alien Swirling Saucers
Good for kids and Toy Story Land vibes. Short wait + good LL availability.
